IELTS, or the International English Language Testing System, is a globally recognized standardized test designed to assess the English language proficiency of non-native English speakers. It was established in 1989 and is jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and Cambridge Assessment English.
The test evaluates four key language skills:
LISTENING :
Candidates listen to recorded conversations and monologues and answer questions based on what they hear.
READING :
Candidates read passages from books, newspapers, magazines, or academic texts and answer questions to test their comprehension.
WRITING :
Candidates complete two writing tasks. Task 1 involves describing visual information (charts, graphs, tables), and Task 2 requires writing an essay on a given topic.
SPEAKING :
Candidates participate in a face-to-face interview with a certified examiner. This section assesses their ability communicate verbally, including fluency, coherence, vocabulary usage, and grammatical accuracy.
